Welcome to Dronfield Junior School

Dronfield Junior School

We aim to provide a happy, secure and stimulating environment in which your child may grow.

Each child is valued as an individual, with the organisation and curriculum designed to provide your child with the best of opportunities for learning - achieving his/her full potential and making learning fun. We want your child to be happy!

We provide our pupils with an education that equips them with the knowledge, skills, cultural capital and confidence they will need to thrive in their next stage of schooling and beyond.

We work hard to provide an inspiring curriculum and nurturing experiences. We expect our pupils to work hard at school and at home too.  We want parents and carers to play an active part in their child's education and to support the work of our staff.

History

Dronfield Junior School is in the heart of the town of Dronfield, in the county of Derbyshire.  We are very proud of our school, which is the oldest, and largest, Junior School in Dronfield.   Built in 1875 the stone building has been modernised and extended and is now extremely well equipped and resourced.  The Governors have introduced many measures to improve security to ensure children’s safety and the school’s playgrounds have been developed to provide a wide variety of play and sports facilities as well as quiet areas, a sunshade and covered canopy area, an adventure playground and trim trail and a garden with a Forest School area.

Next year, we will celebrate our school being 150 years old.
