Music Opportunities at DJS

Learning to play an instrument brings so many benefits; it boosts brain function, helps with memory, promotes resilience, and increases our sense of well-being and community. At DJS we are lucky to have several specialist music teachers for all of the following: flute; clarinet; violin; piano; guitar; singing; saxophone (Y6 only for saxophone).

Lessons typically last for around 20 minutes and can cost as little as £3.50 for shared lessons with a subsidy. A range of subsidies are available, and Derbyshire Music Hub offers an instrument loan scheme, so families are not required to buy instruments during the beginner period.

7-11 is the perfect age for children to pick up an instrument, so please chat to your child to see if it is something they might be interested in.

For further information please contact the school office, or Mrs De Almeida via Class Dojo.
